Public holiday observed

Use this calculator to identify individuals who may or may not qualify for a paid day off on a public holiday. This information is provided for reference purposes only. For confirmation, it is advisable to seek legal advice.

Eligible employees

1. Hover on Reports > click Statutory Holiday Calculator

2. Enter the Stat Holiday Date then click GO:

3. This generates a list of employees who may qualify for a paid day off on the public holiday:

The system does this by assessing the following:

If the public holiday falls on a Monday (for example), the system reviews the employee’s work history for the previous four Mondays:

If the employee has worked at least three out of the last four Mondays, the system indicates that they are eligible for a paid day off, as the upcoming public holiday falls on an otherwise working day:

Adding timesheets

1. Enter the Stat Holiday Date then click GO:

If the employee has daily contracted hours (all employee types except for casual HPAYG), this is the number that will pull through to the Hours to be paid column:

If the employee doesn’t have daily contracted hours (applies to casual HPAYG employees only), their Avg hours on days worked is what pulls through to the Hours to be paid column:

2. Select SH in the Activity Code field, click the plus icon, then click OK:

Based on the employee’s FBAPS basis, the system will pull through their applicable daily pay. For more information on FBAPS, click here.

Ineligible employees

1. Hover on Reports > click Statutory Holiday Calculator

2. Enter the Stat Holiday Date and select Show zero in the Zero Hours to be Paid field, then click GO:

3. This generates a list of employees who may not qualify for a paid day off on the public holiday:

The system does this by assessing the following:

If the public holiday falls on a Monday (for example), the system reviews the employee’s work history for the previous four Mondays:

If the employee hasn’t worked at least three out of the last four Mondays, the system indicates that they are not eligible for a paid day off, as the upcoming public holiday does not fall on an otherwise working day:
