Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your AgriSmart account, ensuring that only you can access it, even if someone else knows your password. MFA is supported on the desktop version of AgriSmart but does not apply to the iOS or Android apps. This setting is optional, so you can choose whether or not to enable it.

MFA options

  • Google Authenticator – The user logs in with their email and password, then enters a verification code generated by the Google Authenticator app.
  • SMS – The user logs in with their email and password, then enters a verification code sent via text message.
  • None – The user only needs to log in with their email and password, with no additional verification required.

Selecting MFA options

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) options can be assigned based on access level, individual users, or a combination of both.

If SMS is selected as the MFA method, the user must have their phone number added to their profile. For help with this, click here.

Assigning MFA by access level

  1. Click Setup on the menu bar.
  2. Under General Setup, locate the Multi-Factor Authentication section.
  3. Each access level is displayed with two dropdowns:
    • Days – Choose how often MFA is required (daily, weekly, fortnightly, 4 weekly).
    • Method – Select the MFA method (Google Authenticator, SMS, Nothing).
  4. Click Save to apply your selections.

By default, all access levels are set to Nothing (MFA not required).

Assigning MFA to an individual user

  1. Hover over Setup on the menu bar and click Team Manager.
  2. Select the applicable user to open their profile.
  3. Go to the Preferences tab.
  4. Scroll to the Look, Feel & Security section.
  5. Locate the Multi-Factor Authentication dropdown. By default, this is set to From Access Level meaning the user follows the MFA settings assigned to their access level. To override this, select a different method from the dropdown, then click Save.

Using MFA across multiple systems

If you have multiple AgriSmart systems and plan to use MFA, it needs to be set up separately for each system. Configure the settings on an access level and/or individual basis. For consistency, it’s recommended to use the same configuration across systems.
